EXPLORE: San Diego, CA

San Diego is filled with so many different places. The best thing about this city is that it’s a huge melting pot, and there are areas that can make anyone feel like they belong. This post will forever be a work in progress but we will do our best to help you experience San Diego like the locals do.

The first thing to understand about San Diego is that its broken into various neighborhoods; each of which are highlighted below. Each neighborhood has a unique feel and touch.

Gaslamp Quarter (Downtown)

6 th Street, G Street, Market

Our favorite go to spots:

Bang Bang- Asian Fusion, they have a variety of specialty drinks & great sushi, while making you feel you’re in Tokyo.

Altitude Sky Lounge - Located at the Marriott overlooking beautiful Petco Park.

Vin De Syrah - Speakeasy spot- check it out if you want to feel like you are in wonderland.

Noble Experiment - Speakeasy whiskey bar

Rooftop 600 Andaz Hotel - Beautiful view of downtown.

Rustic Root - Good Vibes & slushy Moscow mules, great before or after the game.

Petco Park Stadium - Must go see the San Diego Padres play, with over 100 vendors of San Diego’s best food & brewery’s. It’s a taste of San Diego all in one place.

Half Door Brewing - (another) San Diego craft breweries with a unique charm

Bar Basic - pizza lounge

The Nolen - A cozy roof top lounge with fire pits

Parq Night ClubClosest you can get to Vegas.

Little Italy

Is a cute little neighborhood close by to the airport.

Our favorite go to spots:

Davanti EnotecaAwesome Brunch & make your own bloody-mary bar.

Prep Kitchen - Amazing food with great flavors.

Kettner Exchange - Great for happy hour awesome patio with fire pits.

Ballast Point Tasting Room - (another) San Diego craft brewery. The main brewery is a few miles away in Mira Mar, CA but this tasting room is great. They brew small R&D beers here. Great food too!

El CaminoGreat spot for Mexican and Sunday-Funday with dj & great margaritas.

Ocean Beach (OB)

Better known as the 'Hippy surfer town'

Every Wednesday they have a street fair.

Our favorite go to spots:

Hodad’sMust try their burgers top rated

OB Warehouse - cool spot, unique food. Somehow they managed to put an air-stream trailer in on their second floor.

OB Noodle House - there are 2 , either one is great.

Wonderland Ocean Pub - overlooks beach.

Mission Beach

Rent bikes on the board walk or take a stroll on the bay side.

Our favorite go to spots:

The Roller Coaster at Belmont Park - Dont let this one fool you. This ride is pretty intense.

Wave House - Enjoy a nice cali-creamin beach front in lifeguard chairs with views of the surf

Cannon Ball - Great sushi go during sunset happy hour.

Draft - Great views and cold brews

Rubicon Deli - Delicious sandwiches. A simple concept yet hard to find in CA.

Pacific Beach (PB)

This place is a takes you back to spring break; Party Central. Great spot for day-drinking and meeting 'locals'. Everyone lives or lived here but no one is actually from here.

Our favorite go to spots:

Backyard - A local favorite. Open sky patio just off the strip

The Local - This has become our go-to pb bar. Not sure we'd eat here but we sure do throw them back here.

PB Ale House

PB Shore Club - Red bull slushies & fish races Wednesday nights

Fire House - Nice atmosphere, the food is nothing special

Woodys - Favorite quick breakfast spot- Sit on the roof overlooking beach

Duck Dive - $15 bottomless champagne brunch on Sundays

Dirty Birds - Best wing nights- favorite dirty blue

Java Earth - Best café- must get the pb bagel & acia bowl.

Fig Tree Café - yummy brunch

KONOs - breakfast burrito

Sushi Ota - #1 sushi spot

Barrel Republic - pour your own beer

El Perez - PBs newest bar with sunset views

North Park Area

This area is known for its 'Hipster Vibe'

Our favorite go to spots:

Coin-Op - $0.25 cent arcade games and craft beer. It doesn't get better than this

URBN Pizza - Coming from the east-coast Pizza has always been close to our hearts. This is the BEST pizza in all of San Diego. Thin burnt crust.

Seven Grand - feels like your throwing’ it back inside an Abercrombie & Fitch store


Our favorite go to spots:

Snooze - you HAVE to get the pancake flight. There are flavors you would never imagine

Figtree café

Bombay - Great Indian Food. They typically have live fire and snake dancers while you eat.
